How to see your Android device firmware version or number?
Apparently, before rooting a device or perform any administrative action on a device, you must take note of the exact firmware number or code. Most OEMs show the firmware code of a device as the “Build Number.” To see your device firmware/build number; go to settings >>> about >>> build number. Or go to Settings >>> About Device >>> Software Information >>> Software Version (For HTC users).

How to Select Firmware
In this article, we are concentrating on Samsung mobile models. However, for other models, the procedure is the same.
Practical explanation of a firmware number or code
-
Explain: I5700 version – I5700XEIL5 December 2009
The “15700” is the firmware version from the example above, the next “XE” is the countries which the firmware is related to, the “I” represents the year, “L” represents the month, and “5” stands for the actual version
-
XE = Bulgaria, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom
-
I = 2009
-
L = December
-
5 = Version
From the above example, we select the firmware based on region; your mobile device can accept this firmware based on the model.
Below are the country codes and operator codes to serve as a reference for choosing the right firmware.

I have relocated to India and am now trying to flash my password/email forgotten, long-time unused Samsung S7. I am getting stuck at the firmware point….is it possible to get an India-coded firmware into the phone to override the old firmware? Or is there an alternative available for the firmware that is currently on the phone (which does not seem to be available while attempting a flash)?
If logging into your mobile is the only problem, you can reset your mobile by booting into recovery mode. But, When you can’t use Indian mobile operators, you can flash “INS” code firmware.
Hi, I have A202FXXU3BTK1/A202FXXU3BTK2 hard to tell which one I have picked for firmware and which region those belong to because I want to unbrick my phone.
Flash the A202F International version and current region firmware.
