Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Manufacturing Cost

Ever since the South Korea tech giant announced the release of this series, a lot of Android users have been following up the news. Today, we are presenting you with the actual manufacturing price of the second variant is Galaxy S10 (i.e., the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus). Estimated Manufacturing Price

This estimation was done with the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (model SM-G975F/DS) meant for Asia and EMEA. This estimation is for the Exynos processor model. As for the Qualcomm model, we hope to see a teardown of its actual manufacturing cost quite soon.

From our analysis of the inner workings of the Galaxy S10+, we also performed a quick cost estimate on the unit. Here, we present a few costing points of note, along with an overview of cost allocation on the phone.

Display Cost

Processor Cost

Samsung used the industry’s new Exynos 9820 @ 8 nm instead of Exynos 9810 @ 10 nm. The former processor (Exynos 9810 @ 10 nm) is seen on Galaxy S9+, and its die size is about 122 mm2. Now, the S10+ comes with Exynos 9820 @ 8 nm, the industry’s cutting-edge processor with a die size of 124 mm2. This processor of Galaxy S10 costs $10 less than the one on S9+.

RAM Cost

On the other hand, the display cost increased by about $9 because S10+ comes with a bigger size. Plus, there is now a punch hole instead of top-notch, and it is an edge-to-edge display design. Coming to the memory pricing, the cost of memory chips dropped drastically, and as a result of that, Samsung adds a 128GB storage chip on Galaxy S10+ instead of 64GB. Also, the RAM was increased by 2GB (LPDDR4X) at no additional cost increase. Even, users of this device will get extra 128GB microSD card out of the box as a freebie package. The cost of all these components is still under $12 added to their Supporting Material costs.

Other Components

Looking at the chart released by the guys at TechInsight, the display of Galaxy S10+ costs more than other components/features, estimated at $86.50. The memory cost is quite high at $50.50, while the chipsets and network modems cost up to $70.50. There are more cameras on this device, and it costs Samsung $56.50 for all these cameras. Other costs can be seen in the chart below.

The total amount it cost Samsung to manufacture a unit of its Galaxy S10+ device which is a variant to S10 is about $420 (total for all included components). A lot of sources have it that this device will cost around $999.99, then Samsung will up to 60% profit for each unit sold.

What more?

This is the estimated manufacturing price for Samsung S10 Plus. The actual amount may vary a lot because Samsung will not reveal the actual price. The components rates can be low, due to bulk Manufacturing. You can’t buy any device without additional costs. But, we spend an extra 50% on the premium devices for High-Quality testing, Advertisement, Promotion with Celebrities like that. This Advertisement cost and other Non-Needed costs are cut down by Brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi. That’s why you get them for a meager price.
