  1. Hello,
Following this tutorial step by step, I end up not able to access the magisk.zip. The phone folders seem encrypted, and I don’t find the files on the phone. Is there a way to see them in twrp?

    best
    Tom

      • Hello,
thank you for your quick response!
I had a hint yesterday that I may need to get rid of my pattern screen lock. And voila it worked. My phone is rooted now.
Now the question is, some tutorials use no-verity-opt-encrypt, others don’t.
One tutorial at xda mentions to do a Nandroid and a EFS backup. But it involves to delete the
        locksettings.db
        locksettings.db-shm
        locksettings.db-wal.
        gatekeeper.password.key
        gatekeeper.pattern.key

But that is from 2017. Is this still valid?

    • Yes. Instead of Official TWRP, Flash Blu Spark TWRP. When you get the update, download the ROM and Flash It using TWRP and Install Magisk. Before Installation Wipe Cache. Don’t Wipe System. Every time you should Install Magisk after the ROM Flash. Above 17.1 Magisk version can support this process.

      • Hello, with the new Android 10 out for the 5t, can I install the blu spart TWRP over the official TWRP and then apply the Android 10 without wiping the system? Is there an instruction somewhere?

        • Hey, the first stable version has some bugs as per the user reviews. Wait for the patch updates. When you get the second stable version, You can flash the firmware using TWRP then flash Magisk.

    • You should backup first. That’s why we mentioned the Pre-requirements as the Full data Loss process. You can get back your APP data using Google Backup. If you Deleted the data in SD Card, Compare with the mobile Recovery, the SD card can be recovered fully. Use some Third-party PC app to recover.

  2. The process wipes by the whole system after I accepted to unlock the bootloader.
Very sad, I thought this process does not harm the existing system and apps and does not wipe anything.

    • The process will not wipe user data. Something wrong happened during your procedure. That’s why we advise you to take backup. You can get your App data and other information by logging again with your Google Account.

      • Oh, that seems effortless. But will it wipe the phone clean, and once it is uninstalled, how would I install the original version again?
        Thank you

        • Backup is a precaution. We are not going to wipe the user data. We only wipe the cache data in recovery. After the successful Root, you can install the updates using TWRP.

          • Q is out for the 5t: Can I install Android 10 without losing the data by this method – uninstall via magisk.
Keeping the root still, involves switching from Official TWRP to BluSpark?

          • To Keep Root, you should install the full firmware using TWR, Which will result in data loss.

  3. Hello,
    I understood the following:
    1. once I unroot in magisk, I select Uninstall and Complete Uninstall. Would I be able to the OTA Android 10 after that (I don’t want to stay rooted)? Would I keep my data?
    or
    2. If I want to stay rooted, can I use TWRP to install Android 10 but then I would lose my data, right?
    Or is it more complicated?
    Best regards
    Tom

  4. Hello,
I eventually uninstalled the Magisk and now have an unlocked but non-rooted phone. Oddly, although my last update was April 2019, OTA says I am up to date. Which way would I be able to get all the security updates that came and then update to Android 10?

Thank you so much for your tips so far!

  5. Hello,
yes, I saw that. I assume I can install Android 10 without all the Android 9 updates, right?

thank you so much for your help
