tried this and it doesn’t work, I get fail when I want to load twrp in the phone.
Did you get the “PASS” message in ODIN?
Same for me…
Failed at first step.
Can’t open the serial(COM) port
Enable USB Debugging in your mobile and try with other USB Port in your mobile.
when I try to go to the recovery mode, I get no command
You should Install Magisk in the First TWRP Boot. Or Else you will lose root access and TWRP. Repeat the steps. If you can’t boot into OS, You should flash Stock Firmware back.
Will I lose my data(apps, files…) by rooting the phone?
Up to Oreo version, you will not lose data in the rooting process. But, It is better to full backup data when you boot into TWRP.
My phone doesn’t pass security verification on the first boot after magisk installation. Eventually I forced to wipe all.
Can you mention your mobile model number?
I bricked my phone when I started Odin to load the twrp software.
After getting a “PASS” message? Or during the flash? No Problem. Flash Firmware using ODIN. Your mobile will back to the normal stage.
Will I lose all my data when rooting on Oreo 8.0?
It is based on the TWRP method. You won’t lose data. Backup is a precaution.
Tnx
How to find the app download link and how?
Can you mention which app you are referring to?
Will it work with November 2019 security patch?

Enable USB Debugging properly and check the connection.
Hi Selva,
I want to root my A5 2017(a520w). But Odin not detecting my phone. I am using a Samsung original USB cable. I tried with several ODIN and different Samsung drivers. USB debugging is on..oem unlock on.
Please help me.
Usually, Did your PC detects your mobile storage?
Yes. I usually transfer files. Even I did backup too yesterday.
Try with Different versions of ODIN and Run as Administrator.
Hello, every time I try to flash TWRP, it boots into the stock recovery instead.
I turned off auto-boot in ODIN, but this also happens since, as soon as I exit download mode, the phone reboots. When trying to go into recovery mode from there, it just puts me in stock.
I’m on Samsung galaxy a520w
After exit download mode, Immediately press volume up+Power Button, before the first boot.
Just download official twrp recoveries twrp-3.3.1-1-a5y17lte.img.tar
These here not work.
Also, after flashing and manually rebooting into TWRP recovery doing a wipe, it’s the most. So got to reset and erase all data. That will un-encrypt the storage of the phone. Reboot in recovery. Do a wipe, reboot. When TWRP asks for install, just tap NO. Install Magisk Manager and follow instructions.
Great. Thank you for your feedback.
Boa noite Amigo!

If someone has a way to reset everything…
Honestly, Samsung devices are a mess for root…
On my OnePlus 3, you push with adb, then TWRP installs root, and that’s all. First, try. No error. Nothing wrong…
I remember my Galaxy S3 was a mess, too, in some cases. Almost brick it…
Please give me the latest procedure for rooting Samsung a5 2017 oreo update, android security patch level 1 Feb 2020…which version of twrp and Odin I have to use? Do I need any extra zip files to flash?
It will work with the latest versions. Can you mention your build number?
build number R16NW.A520FXXSDCTB5
After installing TWRP, it is necessary to flash 1)no verity opt encrypt 6.0, 2)RMM State bypass mesa v2? or can I directly flash magisk manager without flashing those two zip files…
You should flash those files before Magisk flash.
Ok thanx, I will try, but I’m scared if the phone is stuck at boot loop, then again I have to reinstall stock rom…
Read the guide once or twice. You will understand and can make some pre-arrangements. It will prevent most of the errors.
Thanks for suggestions I successfully rooted my phone keep in touch when I need help from you 🙂
We feel great..:)
