Un-Install Facebook Bloatware in OnePlus mobiles

Android Mobile OS is not that great with mobile manufacturers. Most of the manufacturer always use custom skin OS that makes hard to remove some bloatware apps from mobile. They have to do this because they want to make them differentiate from other mobiles. Oxygen OS is not a clean Android. But most of the users like it as much as Stock Android because they don’t put unnecessary apps. But this feature is broken by OnePlus after they put Facebook as a Bloatware in OnePlus 8 and Nord. We don’t know in upcoming updates they may push the Facebook app to all other mobiles. Bloatware is hard to Un-Install. Some users don’t use Facebook. If you are a one and want to Un-Install Facebook in your OnePlus mobile, follow the below steps.

Some manufacturers install some company apps by getting payment and those apps that can’t be uninstalled. Microsoft apps in Samsung is an example of this scenario. Samsung and Microsoft always give useful apps like Link to windows. But, Custom Skin OS is not favorable for all users. Some of the users still prefer Clean Stock Android.

What is Bloatware?

Android is an open-source operating system by Google. Open-source means any manufacturer can use it without any prior permission from Google. A positive or negative point is that you can add your software with this open-source operating system. This additional software added by mobile manufacturers is called pre-install or Bloatware. They are useful apps that the phone owner wants to install later. But usually, Bloatware is unnecessary apps that the manufacturer pre-install on the phone. These Bloatware uses your phone memory, share CPU, and might use your data too. The bad thing is you cannot uninstall this Bloatware, like other apps.

Facebook Can't Un-Install Bloatware in OnePlus

Bloatware is very common with Android. We have seen these in Samsung and Huawei mobiles for a long time. So long that it is not a surprise for anyone to see Bloatware in Samsung or Huawei phones. OnePlus from its start used to praise Bloatware-free phones.  Here comes the surprising news when we noticed the OnePlus newly launched phone with Bloatware.

Facebook Bloatware in OnePlus Mobiles

OnePlus is a Chinese company that produced OxygenOS for its mobile phones. OxygenOS is an Android skin, based on the Android operating system, and The Bloatware is introduced in this Android skin. OnePlus launched OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 pro in April 2020, and these phones run on OxygenOS. The latest OnePlus model released on August 4, 2020, with the name OnePlus Nord. It was noticed that OnePlus started pre-installing Facebook and some of its services in OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 pro. This Facebook pre-installation continued in Nord too. You get the bunch of Facebook services and apps pre-installed in OnePlus phone when you buy it. You can uninstall these apps, but the bad thing is that you can not uninstall the background services. Only you can disable these services to protect your data mishandling. Facebook is already facing many issues regarding user’s data mishandling.

Facebook Services Bloatware Installation In OnePlus Mobiles

One of the OnePlus spokesmen confirmed the pre-installation of Facebook services. It includes Facebook App Installer, Facebook Services, and Facebook App Manager. Facebook app and Instagram app are also pre-installed in the OnePlus recent phones. The Good thing is that you can uninstall the Facebook app and Instagram app. But the bad thing is that you can not un-install Facebook services. Only you can do, to disable those services running in the background. It can save your battery life, CPU uses, and peace of mind, of course.

How to disable/Un-Install Facebook services Bloatware in OnePlus Mobiles- OnePlus 8 and OnePlus Nord?

Facebook Bloatware acts as system apps, so you cannot uninstall these normally. You will need a windows laptop to uninstall these apps from your phone. First, you have to enable the debugging mode on your phone.

1. Enable debugging mode on your phone

  • Go to settings > tap the About Phone option

  • Search Build number and tap it for seven times continuously. It will enable the developer’s mode.
  • Now go to Settings > tap System option > tap Developer option
  • Turn on the USB Debugging.

2. Steps to uninstall Facebook Bloatware using ADB shell commands

ADB Drivers Installation

  • Download the ADB drivers. Install it on your PC.
  • Download and Install the Android SDK platform-tool file on your PC.
  • Extract this zip file.
  • Copy the address of this extracted file.
  • Open a command window as an administrator
  • Execute the command cd < file address>
  • Connect your phone with a PC/laptop.
  • Confirm the trust this pc pop-up
  • Execute the following commands
  • adb shell

      pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.appmanager

     pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.services

    pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.system

Facebook services not only install Facebook, but it also begins to install Instagram. People always hate apps when they try to install automatically. Most of the Bloatware apps disable in mobile when you spoon feed it to the users. Even if new features like 50 People support in Messenger and Workplace Rooms are useful to people, you should not force them to use the apps. Even Google also put the Chrome browser as a Bloatware in some mobiles. But people always use Chrome browser, So, It is ok. Bloatware is not a bad thing if it is useful.
