After the One UI Update, Samsung realized, How much people love the software experience. To retain the users, Samsung Rolling, out the updates to most of the phones as possible. Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro 2017 also received this Pie 9.0 based upgrade. But, the problem after the Pie update is, It makes the Root process complicated. The Android version Increased, the more we are struggling to find the root process. But, Fortunately, Due to Exynos Processor, Most of the Samsung Mobile variants can be rooted. When you are a regular user, I don’t advise you to do the root process. After the root, you will not get updates from Samsung. When you worry about the Bloatware Apps, you can Disable the System Apps using ADB commands. If you are a Developer or regular root apps user, you can follow the below guide to root your mobile.

If you are a Developer or Regular Root apps user, The great news is we have TWRP. So you can try multiple Custom ROMs and can reach all Root levels. But, you can’t root like Old method. We need to unlock the bootloader. It is only one extra step. So, to reduce confusion, I split the Steps into small parts. The First one is the Unlock Bootloader. And the Second one is flashing TWRP and installing files using TWRP. The method is based on TWRP so that we can expect a high success rate.

What More?

In my opinion, you don’t need rooting for your Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro 2017. If you thought you could Improve Performance By root; With the Exynos 7870 Octa-Core processor and 3/4 GB RAM, your device can perform well. If you don’t know how much RAM you need, You will never use this much RAM. You should not Boot into Normal OS Booting, by pressing the power button, after the twrp flash. If you accidentally urged and boot into the regular OS, Don’t panic, after setup everything, flash TWRP again using ODIN. If you root your device, because of the battery drain issues, you can optimize your battery without root. When Bloatware apps are your problem, you can Disable Bloatware apps using adb commands.

Same here: after flashing TWRP and rebooting – the J530F hangs at the black screen showing “Samsung Galaxy J5 – android”. I left it on for multiple hours.
ATM I could get it to reboot (power+volume down) and into download mode (power+volume down+menu straight after reboot), but what should I do now? Please help.

Did you get the “PASS” in ODIN? You should boot into Temporary TWRP and FLash magisk in the first boot. Or Else you will lose Root access.

It tripped your stock firmware. You have to flash the firmware using ODIN. After that, try again. You should flash the Magisk in the first boot of TWRP. IF you missed, you would lose TWRP.

    Hello Selva
I want to run my SM-J530F with adoptable storage and have been trying desperately for several days to root the phone. Unfortunately, even with your detailed instructions, I did not succeed.
After unsuccessful attempts and the reset to the official firmware, I set USB debugging, and oem unlock and put the phone into download mode by pressing vol down/home/power (and then Vol up). With “ODIN 3.13.1” i flash “twrp-3.3.0-j7y17lze-Pie-530.tar” (contains recovery.img) in the AP tab. Odin acknowledges with the pass. But with or without auto rebooting in Odin, I never get into the twrp menu!

Question 1: You write in the second last paragraph of unlocking Bootloader: Enter to Download Mode-> Volume Up+Volume Down+Power Button, then press volume up to unlock Bootloader. The above process wipes your user data.
    a) For unlocking Bootloader (= Download Mode), I have to click Vol down+Home+Power Button, then press volume up to confirm Vol up. Is this a typo in your description?
    b) Calling the download mode does not delete any data(?).

2nd question: How do I get into the Recovery Mode? After several attempts, I always end up with the Samsung logo and the normal boot. In this situation, can I flash directly with Odin again and then have the possibility to enter TWRP mode again? (In the download mode, “Custom Binary” will be displayed before flashing back). Can you explain the call to Recovery Mode even better for dummies?
Thank you for your answer for the time being!
    Kurt

Download mode will not wipe your data.
You should exit download mode after the flash of TWRP by pressing Volume down+power and immediately boot into recovery using Use Volume Up+Power to enter into recovery mode. When you boot into the normal OS, you will lose TWRP.
